Give regularly
Setting up a regular masjid donation
A small sum every month helps a mosque more than a large one once a year.
A regular masjid donation
Choose an amount you can keep up and set it to leave your account every month. A standing order and payroll giving both do that without you having to remember.
You can give sadaqah jariyah for a loved one, in their name.
Ways to give a regular masjid donation
| Standing order | Payroll giving | |
|---|---|---|
| Set up by | You, with your bank | Your employer’s scheme |
| Taken | From your account, on a date you choose | From your pay, before income tax |
| Gift Aid | Yes, with a declaration | No: the tax relief is already given |
| Change or stop | Any time, through your bank | Through your employer |
Payroll giving takes donations before income tax but after National Insurance, and the employer’s agency passes them to the charity (GOV.UK).
Setting up a standing order
- Ask the mosque for its bank details and a reference with your name.
- Add a standing order in your banking app, monthly.
- Sign its Gift Aid form if you pay UK tax.
